about

For the wounds you tend to hide. Heal thyself.

“Similar to earlier compilations like 'TrackMania Nations' and 'EXILES' this compilation has quite an energetic at times groove based approach to its track selection. As a continuous listening journey the compilation is very much matching to the summer season. Rich in sound design, inspired abstract compositions and sound play 'Healer' is continuously pleasing the ears and mind with its set of 14 new tracks by a variety of Hungarian experimental electronic artists, whose names were all still unknown to me before. All pieces are very nicely in tune with each other in both selection and track sequencing, as if the artists in a way knew what each other’s tracks on Healer would sound like, a great balance. Highlights on this compilation include the beach-like clean breakbeat sound of 'heliocentric' by Kin Teal, the physical, environmental sound recording like clattering piece the unknown by AUX as well the gripping and superbly produced 'REALM' by CRRNT. Later one we have the squelchy contemporary rave sound by [HEATDEATH1992] on 'malformed header', the dystopian but thrilling synth driven piece 'post-world tour' by asvanyviz2, afterwards there is some great abstract metallic deconstructed club infused digital industrial sound design in ONAKOM’s piece 'HARSH', later on we have the strongest piece on the compilation, 'how i found my peace today' by kukorica. It’s a superbly mysterious abstract drone piece that combines a mellow clattering synth background with squelchy alien synth effects and noises as well as manipulated percussion hits and the eerie vocal melody which is heavily effected by especially pitch based effects, a really great intriguing piece. Indeed Healer is a greatly varied rich compilation of contemporary experimental electronic music that is as captivating and imaginative in abstract sense as it is on the melodic and groove based side of the 15 artists’ works presented on here.”
